We are assured that the Word of God teaches
a missionary to be a church planter, Acts 13:2 -Acts 28:31.
Paul and other missionaries planted churches and only churches
in the New Testament! We are assured
from the Word of God that a missionary is
qualified, approved and trained through his local church, Acts
13:1 & Acts 13:46-49. We are assured
that the Word of God teaches us that a
missionary is sent out of the local church, Acts 13:2-4, and
that the missionary answers only to his local church, Acts
14:27-28, not to a mission board or any other para-church
organizations.
Therefore, as a church body, we desire to support
only local church sent missionaries who are not under the
authority of any boards, who are sent out by their local church,
who seek to start independent Baptist churches and train
national men, who will then in turn, pastor and plant additional
new national, local independent, fundamental Baptist Churches.
As a whole, we believe that Christianity should be alarmed
with the consistent and preventable failures in many of today’s
mission programs. Some Independent Baptist’s
have exchanged the God-ordained power of the local church
for the simplicity and convenience of para-church mission
boards. These boards have not and cannot supercede God’s
evident and fruitful blessings upon his creation - the local
independent Baptist church. Christ is the only head of the
church (Ep. 5:25). Therefore, He is also the head of any local
churches missions program. A program that should not be
cluttered with unbiblical boards, unbiblical authorities, and
unbiblical authorization over God’s choice servants.
As a church body, we are well aware that there are many
Christians and organizations who do not hold true to what we
believe to be Biblical, New Testament, local church missions. We
also recognize that our mission statement limits our field of
“supportable” missionaries. Having said this, we also recognize
that little is much when God is in it. We seek to please God,
be blessed of God and become a blessing to godly missionaries
who follow God’s plan for local New Testament missions. It is
not our desire to fight and fuss with the brethren over this
matter, rather we seek to hold unto the precious Scriptures as
the only method and practice for local church missions.
We pray that you can be a part of our church-supported
missionary family at Faith Baptist Church. |
